HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS
Aromatherapy for everyday living
Aromatherapy in the air
Essential oils used in the air provide delightful aromas and allow anyone who breathes in their presence
to benefit from their effects.
Aromatherapy Air Mists made from synergistic blends of essential oils can be used as natural air
fresheners that spread good health as well as pleasant smells.
Aromatherapy burners can be used with about 10 to 20 drops of a chosen essential oil to gently
perfume the air.
Aromatherapy steam treatments can be made with four to six drops of essential oil in a bowl
of steaming water and inhaling for 10 to 15 minutes. This is especially good for sinus
and respiratory
congestion, and for facial treatments.
Aromatherapy on the body
Essential oils used directly on the body are absorbed into the skin. However, essential oils are
highly concentrated so should be diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond oil, coconut oil).
Use about 1 drop per 1 mL of carrier oil.
Balms keep the benefits of essential oils at your fingertips. They can be massaged into the
skin wherever and whenever needed.
Soaps made with essential oils allow you to benefit from their therapeutic effects during
your daily hygiene routine.
Baths & soaks are a wonderful way to enjoy essential oils. Use four to six drops in your
bathwater to enhance your bath time, or in a warm pan of water to make a healing foot soak.
These are just a few of the easiet and most effective ways of benefiting from the physical and
emotional health properties of essential oils. But once you get started, you will find there are
many other ways of incorporating essential oils into your life. Read, learn, and practice, and
you can become your own personal aromatherapist.
